About

General Catalyst is a US venture and growth investment firm founded in 2000 by Joel Cutler and David Fialkow, now led by CEO and sole Managing Partner Hemant Taneja, with more than $43 billion in assets under management as of December 2024. The firm invests across fintech, healthcare, AI and enterprise software from early to growth stage and has backed more than 800 companies, including Airbnb, Stripe, Anthropic, Canva, Samsara and Ramp. It made its first direct Saudi Arabia investment by leading Lean Technologies' $67.5M Series B, announced 11 November 2024, citing the Kingdom's Open Banking rollout and wider MENA fintech-infrastructure buildout, and continued regional activity by joining a $9M seed round for 1001 in October 2025.
